One of South Africa’s most accomplished drummers, teachers and clinicians, Georg is also an author. His book ‘Rhythm of the Head’is endorsed by drummers such as Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Steve White and Gary Husband. This motivational and inspirational work continues to positively influence drummers around the world today.
With a wealth of international experience Georg has worked with signed bands achieving chart success, military bands and orchestras, toured and recorded with notable artists, and appeared at many drum events and clinics. Georg has over 12 years teaching experience and in August 2009 became the first person to sit the new RockschoolLicentiate Music Performance Exam, which he passed with Distinction. He has since then attained the Rockschool Licentiate in Music Teaching - also passed with Distinction. Presently, he is the only person to hold both performance and music teaching Licentiate Rockschool qualifications.
Georg has dedicated the last few years to developing technique. This was brought about by time spent with renowned drummers and teachers such as Jim Chapin, Francis Seriau and Paul Elliot resulting in him fast becoming South Africa’s foremost exponent regarding technique. He specialises in the Moeller and Gladstone methods for hands, and the natural Hop method for feet resulting in other methods such as Constant release and Heel/toe.
Georg proudly endorses Sabian cymbals, Mapex drums, Vater drumsticks, Evans drumheads and Roland Electronic percussion.
Graeme Swale - Drum tutor
All round 'Mr nice guy' Graeme began studying with Georg Voros at the beginning of 2010. In this time he proved to be one of Georg's most enthusiastic students fully taking on board the various hand and feet techniques to which he was exposed. With an infectious passion for drums and drumming Graeme continues to push the boundaries with his ever expanding drumming skills.
Graeme has been playing drums for six years and attended COPA for three years achieving his NQ4, and is now preparing to sit his Rockschool DipRSL diploma exam in 2011. He is currently the drummer for Gauteng based band 'Wake to Wonder' and one of his performance career highlights was performing at the Sun City Superbowl. Graeme's previous teaching experience involves teaching kids how to play the drums at his home based teaching setup. Recognising this potential Georg took Graeme under his wing and mentored him in the art of effective teaching.
Still only 21 but with a mature outlook beyond his years, Graeme has embarked on his dream to fully involve himself with drumming in not only securing a teaching post at GVSD, but to also work as a pro musician and develop the skills necessary to become an active drum clinician.
Graeme teaches students from beginner to Grade 6 level.
